(Mark Twain, Following the Equator)

Trip through Rajasthan- 5th stop: Amer & Sanganeri, next to Jaipur

The Amer Fort is located at 11km from Jaipur, and it is the most impressive Palace of Rajasthan by its size. It was built by the Maharadjah Man Singh in 1592, and enlarged by Jai Singh The First later.
You can reach the entrance of the fort, sat astride elephants (in poor condition), but if you want to do this, do arrive early not to stand in line for 2 hours!
On the way to reach Amer, the Jal Mahal (Water Palace), built in the middle of the 18th century, seems to be a mirage, put in the middle of the Sagar lake.

In the second half of the day, I visited a little village , Sanganeri, in the south of Jaipur, renowned all around the world for its craftmanship: printed “Papier- mâché” items (bags, boxes…), block printed saris , bed covers, and tissues drying in the sun, blue and white potteries and colored ties.
One more time, wonderful colours… !
